However, we must continually ask God to turn this generation into one that seeks Him. Our generation is stuck in a place of bondage.
I must ask God to free me of my bondage that has been holding me back. I recognize that I must ask God for clean hands and a pure heart. Whenever I listen to this song, I come to recognize the sins I am bounded by and the sins the world is bounded by. Oh God let this be a generation that seeks
Oh give us clean hands and give us pure hearts Those moments can sometimes be the most touching moments of your life. Don't be afraid to get emotional or to feel moved. Welcome God into your hearts and let Him touch you. Being in God's presence is the most serene, beautiful feeling and I often feel most enveloped by God when I am surrounded by nature or surrounded by a congregation worshiping the Lord. This song does exactly that, inviting the Holy Spirit in to touch us and change our hearts. When worshiping God, we must always ask the Holy Spirit to come in and move us. Your glory, God, is what our hearts long for "Holy Spirit" by Francesca Battistelli.Ĭome flood this place and fill the atmosphere Also having less distractions helps out a lot better in studying His word and listening to the Holy Spirit's voice guiding me in the truth and understanding.6. This is one reason that I love living in the country with 20 acres of land because there is little distractions down here, and those that are around I can easily go off and avoid for awhile. Because He knew the disciples would distract Him with questions, as we will get distractions from things around us if we do not separate from them. I believe this is why the Lord gave us the examples as you mentioned to pray in secret, and Him going off away from the disciples. As my concentration is thrown off and I can not pray properly, as distractions come into play. The reason I mentioned that I go and find a quite place to pray, and most of the time it is down at my pond, is because when ever I try to pray in my house or with others around there seems to always be something to disrupt my praying. we should however always humble ourselves in prayer, even as we are bold in coming to Him, and if this helps you, by all means, don't prevent yourself. but don't do it as a matter of course - there is no "rule" to do this, and when Christ taught us to pray ( Matthew 6 ) - He didn't mention it. put your face to the dirt if you feel you need to. If you feel led to pray on your knees, do it. you can be sure i mentioned that in my group, lol. i think that's pretty significant - i just finished a 4 month course on prayer with my home group, and Matthew 6 was not mentioned at all, and the focus was largely on publicly praying and forming 'prayer partner' relationships with others. He went off by Himself to pray regularly, and even in the garden, He walked off away from the disciples He brought with Him.
He taught us to pray in secret to go into a room and close the door behind us. on almost every occasion where it is recorded of Him praying, He went off by Himself to pray, the exception being saying a blessing over food ( Matthew 14:19 ) - and here, He lifted His eyes up towards heaven. the examples we have of Christ praying in the scripture are not at all times on His knees - or even with His head bowed. I believe it's important both to be in somewhat constant prayer in your mind and heart as we go through the day, and also to dedicate time specifically to prayer. ((tries to imagine praying "without ceasing" on my knees.))
